DENTISTRY

Dental anesthesia & monitoring -  Extractions - Oral Surgery -  Routine Cleanings -  Fillings -  Fractured Teeth -  Tumor Removals -  Periodontal Treatment & more!

With our Mobile Veterinary Clinics your pet can be at home right after anesthesia, dentistry, and surgery due to the state of the art anesthetics and monitoring. Our anesthetic monitoring includes pulse oximetry, EKG's and blood pressures with a carefully trained nurse continually overseeing your pet along with the doctor. Our individualized service means that our doctors and nurses are not distracted by other animals, events, or requests, and that there is only one pet under anesthesia at any one time. Unlike many hospitals, each pet is given the full attention of a doctor and nurse highly trained in anesthetic procedures.

Our Mobile Veterinary Clinics provide the same and higher level of dental care as local veterinary hospitals. Our veterinary dentistry equipment included air driven high speed hand pieces, prophy angles, ultra sonic scalers, curing lights, and full dental instrumentation which allows us to provide oral surgery and extractions, fillings, dental cleanings, and even root canals. Dental procedures can be done at your location so your pet can recover peacefully at home.

This approach to dentistry and dental cleanings means that your pet doesn't have to stay at the hospital all day. Even with extractions and periodontal treatments or fillings your pet will be comfortable and pain free due to our use of nerve blocks allowing rapid smooth anesthetic recovery without pain. This means that your pet can be kept at a light (safer) plane of anesthesia throughout the dental procedure and recover quickly and safely without pain.

Hospitals that do not utilize local anesthetic blocks in dentistry are putting your pet under a deeper anesthesia or are giving them high levels of pain killers which cause post operative depression and slows recovery (this definately isn't as safe).

We, on the other hand, have many testimonials for our rapid recovery dental procedures. Dr. Townsley was an original member of the California Veterinary Dental Society and was in the original veterinary dental classes taught at Michigan State University by Dr. Ben Colmery III, DVM DDS (M.S.U. & U. of M. Ann Arbor). Dr. Townsley has been doing oral surgery and root canals for over 20 years and is accomplished at tumor removals and difficult extractions.

Our completely equipped clinics facilitate less traumatic oral surgery with high speed drills and equiptment rather than micrometor driven slow hand pieces and hand instruments.

SURGERY

Declaw - Neuter & Spay - Orthopedic - Orchiectomy - Onchyectomy - Soft Tissue/Abdominal & more!

ALL of our presurgical exams, medications, and anesthetic preparation and induction are DIRECTLY attended to by the Doctor and Nurses - not just assistants

ALL of our surgeries include IV catheters and fluids, full monitoring and state of the art anesthesia (Isoflurane or Sevoflurane) allowing for excellent safety and the rapid recovery of our precious patients.

- Declaw -

Our doctors will discuss our pain-free declawing (Onchyectomy) techniques with you!

Pain-free declawing utilizes a local anesthetic plus suturing each toe (rather than tissue glue) for improved post-op declawing comfort so that our Onchyectomy patients walk the next day without discomfort or the need for pain patches or even oral pain meds. We offer both the full disarticulation surgery or the procedure of declawing that leaves the ungual process and flexor tendon in place to avoid flat footedness and arthritis later on.

- Neutering -

Orchiectomy is a simple, quick procedure that reduces or eliminates territorial spraying of urine, fighting, and roaming in male cats. Male cats can come home the same day if neutered at our base hospital or may be neutered on site at your home in our mobile facility. This eliminates the need to stay at the hospital all day.

- Spaying -

A "Spay" operation is a hysterectomy or Ovariohysterectomy or Panhysterectomy surgery involving the removal of the uterus and ovaries making it impossible for a female cat to conceive. Your pet will stay with us during the day and be returned to you mid to late afternoon depending on our surgery schedule

- Orthopedic -

An exciting improvement for ruptured ligaments!

ACL Rupture:

We offer a new anatomically aligned technique for correcting the instability caused by rupture of ligaments and tearing of cartilage inside the knee joint. Our reconstructive knee surgeries are less expensive than TPLO surgeries and less painful and easier of your pet. You can expect your pet to be returning to function and walking on the injured leg again within 1-2 days of surgery. Our fees run from 800.00-2,000.00 depending on your pet's size and how many implants are required. Our techniques do not require cutting of the bone, bone plates, or saws.

We use implants originally designed and licensed for use in human orthopedic ligament replacement surgery. Dr. Townsley has exceptional experience in orthopedics and has performed over 300 of these surgeries! Utilizing Arthrex fiberwire and tightrope ligament replacement surgery means :

WE PROVIDE ONLY THE BEST FOR YOUR PET!

These human orthopedic implants have been proven by usage in orthopedic surgery on people for years - YES! Tested on people before used on your pet. Now that's a switch! -

Luxating Patellas:

(Displaced Kneecaps)

A carefully performed Recession Sulcotomy and correction of the alignment problems associated with luxation of the patella (kneecap) provides great results in toy and small breed pets suffering the discomfort and pain of these conditions. Our prices typically run 1/2 to 1/3 that of local referral facilities and Dr. Townsley has training and experience with orthopedic surgery going back to 1978.
